Premier League: Can QPR, Villa or Reading secure crucial points?

This Saturday, there will be some Premier League action with Everton hosting City, QPR will travel to Villa and United will face Reading. The bottom teams need crucial 3 points to get out of the relegation zone.

At the top half, the only team left to chase Manchester United is their city rivals Manchester City. They will be coming up against Everton and 3 points will be vital to both teams. Manchester City is chasing United, realistically can’t afford to drop any more points should they wish to retain their title. Everton, on the other hand, want to qualify for the Europa League.  Wigan denied Everton a trip to Wembley for the FA cup semi-finals after a shocking 3-0 defeat. All that is left for Everton is to continue pushing for a European spot. That and the satisfaction of finishing above their Merseyside rivals Liverpool.

Aston Villa vs QPR on Saturday, March 16th at 15:00 at Villa Park

For the second week in a row, Aston Villa will be involved in a “six pointer” relegation battle, as they host QPR. Villa picked up vital 3 points against Reading in a 2-1 victory which saw them leapfrog Wigan and go out of the relegation zone. However, 3 points will be vital for both teams. Harry Redknapp seems to have worked his magic once more as his side have found form just when it matters most and secured successive back to back wins. QPR is now level with Reading and just one point behind Wigan.

Manchester United vs Reading on Saturday, March 16th at 17:30 at Old Trafford

Reading themselves have been in the papers a lot this week following the 2-1 home defeat to Aston Villa. McDermott was sacked after the loss and the decision from the board has been seen as controversial, causing a backlash in the media as it was McDermott who guided Reading to the Premier League. Just if things weren’t hard enough for Reading, it doesn’t get any easier as this week at a time they are desperate for points – they come up against Manchester United. United themselves have taken a slight dip in form after crashing out of the Champions League at the hands of Real Madrid, before throwing away a two goal lead to draw with Chelsea in the FA cup. Whether that means it’s a good time for Reading to be coming up against them or a bad time as United could be looking to take all their frustration out on the league strugglers.
