Premier League: The race for third place – Chelsea vs Swansea and Arsenal vs United on Sunday, April 28th

The race for third place continues this weekend. Chelsea will host Swansea and Manchester United will travel to Arsenal on Sunday, April 28th.

The race for third place is really livening up between London clubs Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham and with only a few games remaining every point is crucial. Either of these teams may even get second place if last year’s champions Manchester City continue to drop points like they did in their recent defeat to Tottenham, but this does seem unlikely.

Chelsea vs Swansea on Sunday, April 28th at 3:00 pm

Europa League semi-finalists Chelsea FC host Swansea this Sunday at their Stamford Bridge ground. The last time the two sides met in the league they shared the spoils with a 1-1 draw courtesy of a late 88th minute goal from Swansea’s Pablo Hernandez. They have also met in the League Cup in which eventual winners Swansea beat Chelsea 2-0 on aggregate. The Welsh club are currently ninth in the league, level on points with West Ham United and three points behind West Brom whilst Chelsea are fourth, one point behind Arsenal and one point ahead of Tottenham. If Chelsea win and Arsenal draw or lose then they will move up to third place with a game in hand so Rafael Benitez’s men will definitely be looking to put in a great performance and take the three points.

Arsenal vs Manchester United on Sunday, April 28th at 4:00 pm

Arsenal face a much tougher test on Sunday in the form of newly crowned Premier League champions Manchester United, who took the trophy back from rivals Manchester City on Monday with a 3-0 victory against Aston Villa, securing their 20th league title. However, even though the title is won United will not ease off as they will be trying to break Chelsea’s point’s record of 95. The reverse fixture at Old Trafford finished 2-1 to the homeside with Jack Wilshere being sent off and Santi Cazorla scoring in the fifth minute of extra time after former Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie and French defender Patrice Evra put United 2-0 up. Arsenal are currently third in the league, one point ahead of Chelsea and five points behind Manchester City. They are unbeaten in seven games and have won six of those seven. They will certainly be striving to keep this record going and extend their distance away from Chelsea. An exciting Sunday of football awaits!
