Chelsea vs Manchester United – Sunday October 28th at 4pm

The last of the upcoming weekend games will prove to be a great spectacle and well worth its wait as the current European Champions Chelsea host giants Manchester United at Stamford Bridge. Although early in the season, this game can still be labelled as a top of the table clash and could prove crucial come the end of the season. Both teams will be desperate for 3 points as they will both believe they can mount a serious challenge for the Premier League title, especially Manchester United who narrowly lost out on the title on goal difference.

Chelsea are currently placed top of the table with 19 points out of a possible 21, currently unbeaten in the Premier League and that is the kind of form they will look to carry throughout the season. They had a funny season last year, not performing up to expectations and not looking like the team they once were. This was all under the guidance of ex manager Andre Villas Boas, now of Tottenham, after a run of bad results Chelsea parted ways with him and Roberto Di Matteo stepped forward as interim manager. He had the backing of the fans and the dressing room as he went on to lead Chelsea to win the FA Cup and defeating Barcelona and Bayern Munich on their way to winning the Champions League.

They have started this season in fantastic form which has been boosted by the additions of Oscar and Eden Hazard, who has been fouled more times than any other player in the top flight this season, which goes to prove his flare and ability to take the ball past players. They look like a quality outfit this year but will be tested to the max as before they host Manchester United, they play away at both Tottenham Hotspur and then Shakhtar Donetsk; where their large, talented squad will be put in to use.

Last season Manchester United finished without a major trophy, something you don’t often say at the end of a season. Disappointing all round and there is no doubt that Sir Alex Ferguson and his team will be out to make amends this season and get some trophies in the cabinet. They splashed out bringing in star striker Robin Van Persie from Premier League rivals Arsenal and so far this season he has proved to be worth every penny, scoring 5 goals in 7 games. Alongside Wayne Rooney, the pair look deadly and will, without question, provide a threat against any team they play against. Some may argue that Manchester United are no longer the biggest or best team in Manchester and that City will continue to overtake them. There is only one thing that Manchester United can do to halt this, and that is to keep winning games and keep winning trophies.

This game takes place on the Sunday, and just three days later they will play each other once more, again at Stamford Bridge, in the Capital One Cup. It will be an interesting two games to see how the managers experiment and who will come out on top overall.
