Review: Barcelona 2:1 Real Madrid and Schalke 04 1:3 Borussia Dortmund

28.10.2013 This weekend, two of the biggest derbies in the world of football took place. Barcelona met Real Madrid at the Camp Nou and Borussia Dortmund played again Schalke 04 at the Veltins-Arena. Fans around the world were following the derbies.

Barcelona 2:1 Real Madrid

99000 fans celebrated the 2:1 Barcelona win in the 258th El Clásico between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid on Saturday night. Barcelona dominated clearly the first half with more passes and possession. Neymar scored the lead in the 19th minute. Sanchez extended and scored the 2:0 after chipping the ball beautifully over Real goalie Lopez in the 78th minute. Real didn’t give up and scored the consolidation goal in the 90th minute by Jesé.

Dortmund 3:1 Schalke

The “Revierderby” between Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04 has a long tradition. The cities are only divided by several miles and the fans are hardcore fans that see there club as a religion. For many, the “Revierderby” is the highlight of the year and gives the winning team a good indication whether they can compete for the title. Last weekend, Schalke was trying to win the 143rd derby for the third time in a row, but disappointed against a strong Borussia Dortmund team. Schalke lost 1:3 at home at the Veltins-Arena in front of 61,000 fans. Aubameyang, Sahin and Blaszczykowski scored for Dortmund and secured the 2nd place in the table. Dortmund is now competing with Bayern Munich for the top spot.
