19.02.2014 – Tonight Arsenal will have to show there qualities again as they face the European Champions Bayern Munich at home at the Emirates Stadium. Jack Wilshere is likely to return to the starting line-up.
Arsenal is facing a tough match on Wednesday night when they’ll face European Champion Bayern Munich. However, Wenger claims that his side is mentally stronger than 12 months ago when his team lost 3:1 at home and beat Munich at the Allianz Arena with 2:0. Bayern went on to win the Champions League. This season, Bayern only lost to rival Borussia Dortmund in the DFB Super Cup and dominates the Bundesliga once again. Pep Guardiola and his team are leading the Bundesliga with 15 points ahead of Leverkusen.
However, Arsenal is in great shape after beating Liverpool in the fifth round of the FA Cup. Ahead of the match, it seems that Jack Wilshire will return to the starting line-up. Mikel Arteta is suspended and will be replaced by Rosicky. Arsenal will need two perfect games to advance to the next stage of the Champions League.
On the Bayern site, Franck Ribery and Xherdan Shaqiri will miss the match against Arsenal due to injury. It is assumed that Robben will take Ribery’s place on the left wing with Muller on the right. Bastian Schweinsteiger will return after an ankle injury. Jerome Boateng, David Alaba, Thiago and Mario Goetze will also return after being rested on the weekend against Freiburg.
It will be a tough match for Arsenal, but one that is not impossible. The return match will take place on March 11th at the Allianz Arena.
