Liverpool 0:2 West Brom

Liverpool suffered a huge set back in there mission to secure Champions League football next season. West Brom climbed 8th in the table after there 0:2 away win.

West Brom faced a tough match last night at Anfield considering the fact that the Baggies were without a victory in the last 6 Premier League games. In recent weeks, West Brom lost to Tottenham (0:1), Everton (2:1), QPR (0:1) and Fulham (1:2). Liverpool on the other side gained momentum over the last weeks with draws against ManCity (2:2) and Arsenal (2:2).

Brendan Rodger started Luis Suarez as a lone striker since Daniel Sturridge missed the game due to an injury. Liverpool came close just before the break when West Brom’s Steven Reid almost put the ball in his own goal after a Shelvey’s cross. However, Liverpool increased the pressure after the break and West Brom keeper Ben Foster had to make some great saves against Jordan Henderson, Fabio Borini and Steve Gerrard to keep his team in the game. Foster even saved a Gerrard’s penalty after Jonas Olsson conceded the spot-kick when he crashed into Luis Suarez. McAuley scoreds the suprising lead for West Brom in the 81st minute after a Chris Brunt cross. Lukaku even extended the score lead in the 90th minute – 0:2 West Brom!
