Chelsea FC will face another tough game on Tuesday in the Champions League against Juventus Turin at Juventus Stadium. The Blues haven’t won a Premier League game in 4 weeks and enter this game after the 2:1 loss against West Brom. The team of Roberto Di Matteo fears to miss the Champions League knockout stage if their record continues. Juventus enters this game completely confident, leading the Serie A with a 4 point gap between them and Inter Milan. However, Juventus drew this past weekend against Lazio Roma.
It has been two months since Chelsea faced Juventus and both teams shared a point in the 2-2 draw. Chelsea had gained a 2-0 advantage, but were unable to hold on as Juventus clawed it back to two apiece and gained a valuable point away from home. Since then, Chelsea beat Danish side FC Nordsjælland, lost to Shakhtar Donetsk away from home, but then beat them back at Stamford Bridge, which has left them in second place with 7 points from 4 games. Juventus lie just one point behind after drawing to Shakhtar Donetsk, FC Nordsjælland away from home but then managing to beat the Danish side at home. For the Italian giants they would have hoped to gain a maximum of 6 points out of 6 against FC Nordsjælland in order to enhance their chances of qualification but they were only able to gain 4 points from the two games.
This leaves the top of Group E as a three horse race with FC Nordsjælland completely out of it, and just one point separating Juventus, Chelsea and Shakhtar Donetsk with only 6 more points to play for. If Chelsea can get anything from this game in Italy, they have the slight comfort of knowing they host bottom of the group FC Nordsjælland in the final game in what should be another 3 points for the European Champions.
