FA Cup: Arsenal and United in 4th Round

Arsenal 1:0 Swansea

Arsenal was under pressure after the 2:2 draw at Swansea on January 6th. However, Jack Wilshere saved Arsenal last night with a late goal against Swansea. Arsenal will now face Brighton in the FA Cup fourth-round. Michael Laudrup’s men started well in the opening 45 minutes and dominated possession. Bartley even came close to score the lead for Swansea. However, Arsenal picked it up in the second half and pressured Swansea. Wilshire was the key as he pushed up and supported Giroud and Walcott in the second half. Wilshire de decided the game in the 86th minute after a great pass by Cazorla. Arsenal will now face Brighton in the fourth-round. Brighton beat Newcastle to advance to the next stage.

Manchester United 1:0 West Ham

Manchester United had to win after the 2:2 draw at West Ham on January 5th. Rooney made his first appearance since Christmas and scored the important 1:0 lead for ManUnited in the 9th minute. Anderson opened up the defence with a great through ball to Hernandez who squared the ball and Rooney just had to hit the empty net. United kept playing great football especially with Giggs in midfield. United almost extended the lead in the 28th minute when a Nani volley was cleared off the line by West Ham defender Dan Potts. West Ham pushed for an equalizer and was denied a penalty after Rafael handed the ball in the penalty area. However, United also received a penalty in the 78th minute which Rooney hit far over the crossbar.
