Aston Villa v Manchester United  2013

Strugglers Villa host 19 times League champions Manchester United at Villa Park where the home side haven’t beat the visitors since 1995. 17 years on and 36 encounters later and the best Aston Villa have achieved is a draw against the Red Devils. Two years ago Villa had a 2-0 lead with 15 minutes left only to see that squandered as United pulled two back in the last 10 minutes to level things up. Villa will certainly want to set the record straight and achieve a hope win whereas Manchester United will want to maintain this record and pick up another 3 points on the road.

Aston Villa can welcome back Joe Bennett and Karim El Ahmadi who have both served their one-match suspensions and will be available for their big clash against Manchester United. Defender Chris Herd is a fitness doubt after being substituted with a knee injury the other week against Swindon in the Capital One Cup. Paul Lambert still faces the selection dilemma of who to start up top, Benteke or Darren Bent. Bent is a proven striker and has scored goals against United in the past but at the minute Benteke is the preferred choice.

Manchester United have no fresh injuries following their two matches against Chelsea and they will hope that remains the same after they face Arsenal and Braga. Defender Chris Smalling continues to make good progress in training in his recovery from a broken metatarsal while fellow centre-backs Phil Jones and Nemanja Vidic remain sidelined with knee injuries, and midfielder Shinki Kagawa is still not quite ready.

No shows booked at the moment.
