World Cup Final: Germany vs Argentina on Sunday, July 13th 2014

11.07.2014 – The 2014 FIFA World Cup reaches its conclusion this weekend with the Final being fought out by Germany and Argentina at the famous Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.

It is always an historic occasion when this game comes round every four years and this is no different, the way the tournament has developed with Argentina getting to the Final on Brazil’s home turf with them eliminated further adds to the intrigue.

The semi-finals were hugely entertaining in different ways with Germany’s demolition of the host nation a huge shock to the world, but a result that they probably deserved given their great play during the match. The other tie was very tactical with both sides trying to attack but also wary of losing the first goal fearing it could be the killer blow, so penalties was the only solution with Argentina holding their nerve to claim their place in the final.

Looking ahead to the Final, it is a great match up with numerous top quality players on show such as Germany’s Thomas Muller, Toni Kroos and Andre Schurrle who were all on target in the ruthless thrashing of Brazil, so they will be full of confidence for the weekend. Their opponents on the other hand have several star names themselves with Sergio Aguero, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Enzo Perez and Inter Milan forward Rodrigo Palacio who looked lively when he entered the fray against the Netherlands on Wednesday. The South Americans have all these names without even mentioning possibly the World’s best player in Lionel Messi, who despite his quiet performance against the Dutch, has had more good games than bad so far in the tournament with game winning goals against Iran, Bosnia Herzegovina and Nigeria to name three.

If Argentina could be victorious in the Final it would not only be a great achievement but it will also be yet another blow for Brazil as they have a huge rivalry with their South American counterparts so the Argentine captain lifting the prestigious trophy aloft in the famous Maracana would be a cruel scenario for the hosts, this means that Germany may have additional support this weekend.

It seems like it could be a case of reliable German efficiency against the attacking prowess of the Argentines in what could potentially be a classic shootout for the biggest prize in the game, so tickets will be scarce for such a momentous occasion, so hurry to avoid disappointment.
