Ricky Hatton: Comeback in Manchester on November 24th
It has been a rumour for a long time and now it is fixed: the former Light Welter and Welterweight world champion – Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton (45-2, 32 KO’s) will make his boxing comeback on November 24th in the Manchester Arena. His last fight was in May 2009 where he got badly beaten by Manny Pacquiao.
No shows booked at the moment.
from £Why did I come back?
“It’s been well documented what has happened to me since the last time people saw me in a boxing ring. It was a two-round demolition by Manny Pacquiao and no-one wants to end their career in defeat and I never wanted to retire.” Hatton said at a press conference.
The opponent hasn’t been confirmed yet for the comeback on November 24th, but Hatton is motivated. “I’m not here to box four or six rounds — I want to win a world title. I box to live now and I want to redeem myself.” We can assume that the opponent will be someone that gets Hatton ranked again.
Against Pacquiao, Hatton was knocked out on the ring floor for several minutes without moving. “I didn’t want to finish my career this way,” said Hatton. Now, “the hunger and desire is back.”
However, it is also no secret that Hatton’s promotional company recently had problems to get a long-term TV contract. However, for the Hatton Comeback, Sky will definitely be on board even though they terminated a contract with Hatton’s company in June.
