Real beats Barcelona in superb 3-1 victory in the Copa del Rey semi-final!

Real Madrid beats Barcelona in a superb 3-1 victory in the Copa del Rey semi-final second-leg at the Nou Camp and advanced to the final with a 4-2 aggregate win.

Real traveled to Barcelona after the 1:1 in the first leg at the Bernabeu. However, a brilliant performance by Cristiano Ronaldo in front of 90,00o fans secured the important victory for Real Madrid.

Real started much better into the game and it took only until the 12th minute before Ronaldo scored the lead. Ronaldo received the ball on the right wing and ran at Pique. The former United defender tackled Ronaldo and catched Cristiano’s right leg and the referee pointed to the penalty spot – 0:1 Real. Ronaldo continued his stunning performance in the second half and Real extended the lead in the 57th minute. A Khedira shot was blocked by Puyol, but the rebound was converted by Ronaldo – 0:2 Real and almost game over for Barcelona. Raphael Varane even scored the third after he was left totally unmarked after a corner. Alba scored the consolidation goal for Barcelona in the 890th minute.

Andres Iniesta said today that Barcelona is not falling apart despite their lose against Real. However, they also face a huge task if they are to progress to the last eight of the Champions League after losing 2-0 to AC Milan in the first leg of their last 16 tie.

Real Madrid is confident for the next weeks match up with Manchester United, having drawn 1-1 at home with United in the first leg of their last-16 tie. Iker Casailles said: “We have to transfer this to the match against Manchester United. It is also 1-1 and we have to score and keep a clean sheet. That’s the aim that we’re going with. We have to take what we have done (against Barca) to Old Trafford.”
