Olympique Lyon – Matches and Tickets 2012/2013

Olympique Lyon is one of the most successful teams in France and regularly competes for the title and plays in the Champions League. Lyon is also one of the most supported sides in France.

Current

Lyon are currently sitting in third position in Ligue 1 on 53 points after 30 games. They are just one point behind Marseille in second and 8 points of top placed multimillion spenders Paris-St Germain. Lyon and PSG have been battling for that top spot for the majority of the season, however, as the season is coming to an end Lyon seemed to of dropped off the pace at the wrong time which was echoed this weekend by their shock 2-1 home defeat to Sochaux.

Stadium

Lyon’s current stadium is Stade de Gerland which has been the home of their football since 1950. The ground was originally built in 1914 and contained an athletics track and velodrome in it – Lyon then began playing their football there 36 years later and after many alterations over the years the maximum capacity of the stadium today is at 40,500. However, this may be the last season Lyon will be playing at Stade de Gerland as they are now currently building a new 60,000 seated stadium called OL Land which is expected to be completed sometime this year.

No shows booked at the moment.

Since the turn of the Millennium Lyon have dominated French football until present as they won Ligue 1 in the 2001/02 season and continuously had successive back to back titles up until 2007/08 when they finished 3rd as Bordeaux won their 6th French title.
