The Oakland Raiders take on the Miami Dolphins at Wembley Stadium on September 28th 2014 in a match which sees the Dolphins return to the UK where they kicked off the NFL international series in 2007. Oakland Raiders
The Oakland Raiders have struggled to compare with their great teams of the 70’s and 80’s in recent years with their last playoff appearance coming as long ago as 2002. The 2013 season has shown no signs of that record changing under Head Coach Dennis Allen with the Raiders currently sitting bottom of the AFC West. The Raiders have not finished a regular season with a winning record since the 2002 season when they went on to lose in Super Bowl XXXVII. The Raiders current roster includes the likes of Running-Back Darren McFadden, Safety Charles Woodson and Cornerback Tracy Porter who could all feature in their 2014 showdown with the Dolphins.
Miami Dolphins
Much like their Wembley opponents, The Miami Dolphins are going through an unsuccessful phase in their history. The Dolphins have not reached the play-offs since 2008 when they won the AFC East division and went on to be defeated by the Baltimore Ravens in the wild-card round. The Dolphins have finished the regular season with a losing record ever since. Like the Raiders, the Miami Dolphins have had success in the past albeit a long time ago with the team winning back to back Super Bowls in 1972 and 1973. The Dolphins are currently 2nd place in the AFC East under Head Coach Joe Philbin and are fighting for a wild-card play-off spot. Ryan Tannehill is the Miami’s current starting Quarterback and will be looking to impress at Wembley along with Wide Receivers Brian Hartline and Mike Wallace.
