NFL International Tickets Matches Fixtures
10.12.2013. The 2nd NFL contest to be played in the UK in 2014 will see the Atlanta Falcons take on the Detroit Lions at Wembley Stadium on the 26th October. Both teams will be taking part in the NFL International series for the first time and will be desperate to return to the USA with a victory.
Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons travel to the UK having finished inside the top two of the NFC South with a winning record for the last five seasons in which time they have won the division on two occasions. The Falcons have however come up short in the play-offs over that time period, only winning one of their five postseason matches. Despite their impressive recent history, the Falcons currently sit bottom of the NFC South and are out of the playoff picture under Head Coach Mike Smith. Falcons Quarterback Matt Ryan, Running-back Steven Jackson and Cornerback Asante Samuel will be eyeing a victory in the UK against the Lions to help get their team back into the play-offs in 2014.
Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions have only managed to qualify for the post season once since the turn of the millennium and have posted losing regular season records in 11 of those campaigns. 2008 was definitely a low point for the Lions organisation as they finished the season with an astonishing record of no wins and 16 losses however Detroit have not been quite as bad in more recent times and were defeated in the 2011 play-offs by the New Orleans Saints. The Lions may be set for another postseason appearance in 2013 as they currently lead the NFC North largely thanks to key players such as Wide Receiver Calvin ‘Megatron’ Johnson, Running-back Reggie Bush and Head Coach Jim Schwartz. The Lions’ poor finishes prior to 2011 have allowed them to pick high in various NFL Draft’s where they have accumulated players like Matthew Stafford and former defensive rookie of the year Ndamukong Suh.
