The O2 Arena in London will host a regular season NBA game on January 16th 2014 when the Atlanta Hawks take on the Brooklyn Nets. The contest hopes to engage with NBA fans in the UK and hopefully build on the success of the pre season match between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Philadelphia 76ers which takes place in Manchester this October.
Current
UK fans with tickets to the clash in January can look forward to seeing the Nets’ star studded team which includes Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett in action first hand. Any UK fans of the Atlanta Hawks will be hoping to get a glimpse of new signings Paul Milsapp and Kyle Korver who will look to add to the team.
Atlanta Hawks
The Atlanta Hawks finished the 2012/13 regular season with a record of 44 wins to 38 losses and subsequently qualified for the playoffs where they were eliminated in the first round by the Indiana Pacers. Atlanta won the last meeting between themselves and the Brooklyn Nets 105-93 at the Barclays Center in March with Al Horford top scoring with 15 points.
Brooklyn Nets
The Brooklyn Nets had an impressive season in 2012/13 after they reached the playoffs where they were defeated by the Chicago Bulls. The Nets have improved their squad during the off season with the acquisition of Jason Terry among others and will look to build on last season’s winning record of 49 wins and 33 losses. Should the Nets reach the playoffs supporters will be hoping new head coach Jason Kidd can guide them further into the post season than the first round where they came unstuck in 2012/13.
No shows booked at the moment.
