EURO 2020 hosted in 13 cities across Europe

UEFA will revolutionize European football! The UEFA Executive Committee has decided that the “Euro for Europe” in 2020 will take place in 13 stadiums in 13 different countries.

Every European football association can apply to be one of the host cities. However, only one venue per country is granted. Twelve countries will be hosting three group matches and one knockout round match. Both semi-finals and finals will be in the final venue.

England and the FA have until September to nominate its candidate stadium. However, each country also has to meet the minimum stadium capacity requirements. The final venue has to have a capacity of 70,000. A potential quarter final venue has to have a capacity of 60,000 and a group stage venue a minimum of 50,000. Only two exceptions are allowed at the group stage for stadiums of a minimum capacity of 30,000 seats. Each association is allowed to present up to two bids, one for the group and one for the semi-finals/final. Each national association can decide to present the same city for these two bids or two different cities.

The FA has until September 2013 for it’s formal confirmation of their bid. UEFA will officially appoint the host cities on September 2014.
