Cricket: England Triumph in India for the first time in 27 years!

After the dismal display in the first test of the series, not many were convinced England would come away avoiding a whitewash, let alone coming away with their first series victory in 27 years in India. England never have been the greatest of test sides playing on the continent. However, after the crushing defeat suffered in Ahmedabad England showed their spirit and rallied round to turn the series on its head.

Alistair Cook was to lead from the front, scoring a Century in the second and third test matches to set up wins for his country. Cook was named man of the series for England as he led from the front. He has now won his first 5 series’ as captain, breaking the original record for an England captain. England also welcomed back into the side Kevin Pietersen who seemed to put behind his differences and put in some very credible performances.

India crumbled after their first dominant display in the first test, and never seemed to look like the team that first stepped out during the series. England will now be looking to secure wins in the Twenty20 matches before heading to New Zealand for a test series there. Alistair Cook has the qualities to be the England captain that secures the Ashes in Summer 2013, and himself and the side he leads will be brimming with confidence after beating India and becoming the number 1 ranked test match team in the world.
