Derby time in Europe: FC Bayern Munich v Borussia Dortmund, Real Madrid v Atlético Madrid and Juventus Turin v FC Turin

FC Bayern vs Borussia Dortmund

FC Bayern will face Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, December 1st in the top game of the Bundesliga. FC Bayern is leading the table with 10 points ahead of Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund. FC Bayern won on Wednesday against SC Freiburg with 2:0 with goals scored by Müller and Tymoshchuk. The only player that will miss the highlight on Saturday will be Robben who suffers from a major groin injury. However, Ribéry, Schweinsteiger and Shaqiri are well motivated and know they need to win against Dortmund to secure a good lead for the winter break. The team of Jürgen Klopp, however, played great football in the last weeks, especially in the Champions League where Dortmund already qualified for the next round. The last Champions League group game will be next Tuesday, December 4th against Manchester City. Three players, however, are questionable for the game on Saturday. Mario Götze, Ilkay Gündogan and Mats Hummels all missed the game on Tuesday where Dortmund drew 1:1 against Fortuna Düsseldorf. Götze and Gündogan didn’t train all week and remain a major concern for Klopp. Hummels, on the other side is optimistic.

Real Madrid vs Atlético Madrid

Spain will enjoy another derby – the big Madrid Derby! Real Madrid vs local rival Atlético and this time Real Madrid is chasing Atlético. Real Madrid is only third in the table, 11 points behind Barcelona and 8 points behind Atlético. Real is under huge pressure and Jose Mourinho has to win in order to close the gap to both teams. Last week, Real lost to Real Betis Sevilla with 1:0. Atlético, on the other side, will enter the game against Real without any expectations. However, Atlético is motivated and confident especially after the 4:0 win last week against FC Sevilla. The goals were scored by Falcao, Koke and Mirande. Atlético also wants revenge for the 4:1 loss last season. During the week, Falcao underlined that a draw is not enough and said: “If you play for a draw, you end up with nothing at all.” Real Madrid will also face Ajax Amsterdam on Tuesday, December 4th in the last Champions League group match.

Juventus Turin vs FC Turin

Another league, another derby. In Italy, the two Turin clubs play the Derby della Mole – the Derby of Turin. On Saturday, Juventus, who is currently on top of the Serie A, is facing FC Turin who is currently 14th in the league. Juventus is the clear favourite for the game. However, as we have seen at the Lazio v A.S. Roma match, those derbies are special and anything can happen. The players are certainly motivated and Juventus striker Quagliarella wants to improve his goal scoring record. So far, he scored 6 this season.
