Carl Froch will defend his IBF super-middleweight title against Yusaf Mack on November 17th 2012 at the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham.
Carl Froch is known as The Cobra. Froch turned professional in March 2002 after winning the ABA Middleweight titles in 1999 and 2001 as an amateur. The Nottingham Forest supporter is the current IBF super-middleweight champion and a former WBC super-middleweight champion. Froch won 29 of his 31 fights and lost only 2. His height is 185cm and he has a reach of 189 cm. In May 2012, Froch had to defend his title against Lucian Bute. Bute was the clear favourite for the fight, but Froch dominated and KO’ed Bute in the fifth round which made Froch a three-time world champion.
Yusaf Mack is from Philadelphia, USA and has the nickname Mack Attack. He turned professional in 2000 in Mississippi and won his first 24 professional fights. In 2006, Mack suffered his first career loss against Alejandro Berrio in an IBF super middleweight title fight. Mack has fought in the middleweight, super middleweight, and light heavyweight division and held the USBA (now the IBF), NABA, UBA and NABF title. He won 31 of 37 fights and lost 4. Froch will face a real challenge in his hometown Nottingham with Mack after he stepped down a weight class. He knows that: “I need to be on my A-game, I need to be switched on, focused and I need to start strong and sharp and be motivated, which I am.”
