Capital One Cup: Arsenal lucky against Reading in greatest ever Capital One Cup game!

One of the most exciting gamers I have ever seen ended in a very dramatic way. Arsenal started with Chamakh, who made his first start since January, Theo Walcott and Andre Arshavin. Reading, on the other side, made six changes compared to the 3:3 against Fulham last weekend and put Arsenal under pressure straight from the start. Reading scored the lead in the 12th minute after Robson-Kanu played a precise pass to Roberts who scored from close range – 1:0 Reading. Reading kept coming and scored the 2:0 only 5 minutes later. Gunter and McCleary linked up on the right side and passed into the middle where the ball deflected from Koscielny legs into the own goal – 2:0 Reading in the 18th minute. 2 minutes later, the 3:0 for Reading after Arsenal keeper Martinez tried to save a Leigertwood shot and put the ball into his own goal. That wasn’t the end. Reading even scored the forth before half time. In the 37th minute, Hunt finished a McCleary cross and extended the lead to 4:0 for Reading. What a game!!! Arsenal however, scored the 4:1 in the over time of the first half through Walcott (45+2).

What a first-half and Reading just needed to hold on. Arsenal made some changes for the second half. For Frimpong and Gnabry came Giroud and Eisfeld in the 63rd minute. 2 minutes later brought Giroud’s header Arsenal back in the game when he scored the 4-2 after a corner. Arsenal started to play better and pressured Reading. However, it took until the 89th minute until Koscielny shortened Readings lead to 4:3 after a corner. Arsenal had new hopes and scored started running at Reading. Arsenal got lucky and Jenkinson literally scored with the last kick of the game the equalizer. An unbelievable comeback by Arsenal!

In the overtime, Arsenal got lucky again and Chamakh scored after an Arshavin assist in the 103rd minute. Arsenal completely turned the game and for the first time that Arsenal had the lead in this game. However, the drama continued after Pogrebnyak flicked a Gunter shot in the back of the net – 5:5 equalizers in the 115th minute. And just as we settled for possible penalties, takes Arshavin a tremendous shot that was saved by the Reading keeper and flicked in the net by Theo Walcott – 5:6 Arsenal in the 120+1 minute. 2 minutes later the 5:7 after Reading tried to attack and Arsenal counter attacked.Chamakh scored with a flick over Federici. What a game!

Arsenal certainly got lucky and turned a game completely after being 4:0 behind. Certainly, one of the greatest ever Capital One Cup games.
