Wolfsburg was sitting deep in there own half and was literally overtaken by Bayern. However, Diego scored the 2:1 in the 45th minute after a Neuer mistake. Bayern regained the 2 goal lead after Shaqiri finished a 20 yard shot in the 50th minute before Mario Gomez put on his “Gomez Show”. Gomez came on in the 77th minute for Mandzukic and scored a incredible hat-trick within 6 minutes.

Jupp Heynckes said after the game: “We’ve seen a very good semi-final today. Wolfsburg were strong opponents who matched us for long periods. We were better in defence after half-time, and that’s the be-all and end-all in modern football. We’ll always make an impact up front. All of us want to win the cup, but it’s not as easy as it looks. That was very hard work today.”

Bayernwill now play Stuttgart or Freiburg in Berlin on 1 June. Bayern will host Barcelona in the first-leg of the Champions League semi-final next Tuesday.
