Founded in 1871, the FA Cup is the oldest football competition in the world. It is contested annually and is currently held by Wigan Athletic who defeated Manchester City 1-0 in the 2012/13 final. The final is contested at the national stadium, Wembley and has been won the most times by Manchester United who have lifted the trophy on 11 occasions. Arsenal and Tottenham have also been successful in the FA Cup winning on ten and eight occasions respectively. To compete in The FA Cup teams have to play in the Premier League, Football League or the next six levels of English football. The FA Cup has been won only once in its history by a non-English club when Cardiff City won the trophy in 1927.
