13.09.2014 – Liverpool remained unbeaten in 2014 yesterday after beating Fulham with a late Steven Gerrard penalty with 2:3 at the Craven Cottage. Liverpool is still hunting the title dream and is now 4th with 4 points less than Chelsea.

It was a dramatic game last night, but Liverpool showed everything a top team in the Premier League needs to show and took home 3 points from the Craven Cottage. Liverpool came back twice in the game and Steven Gerrard decided the match with a confident penalty in the 90th minute.

Fulham entered the game under massive pressure. The Cottagers are last in the table and lost the last 2 home games against Southampton (3:0) and Sunderland (4:0). However, Fulham played well and got the surprising lead after an own goal by Kolo Toure in the 8th minute. Tunnicliffe also came close and almost doubled the lead shortly after and Liverpool was a shadow of themselves.

It took Liverpool until the 41st minute to equalize and they did it in fashion and Sturridge levelled the game after a delightful Steven Gerrard pass. Liverpool picked up after that equaliser and Suarez hit the post moments later. However, it was Richardson who brought Fulham back into the game and scored the 2:1 in the 63rd minute after Skrtel poor clearance attempt. Liverpool kept pressing and Coutinho equalized again in the 72nd minute before Steven Gerrard the winner in the 90th minute from the spot.

Fulham manager Rene Meulensteen is now under huge pressure to win the next matches to out of the relegation zone. Liverpool, however, is now fourth and fighting for the Premier League title. Liverpool has to prove that they are back in the title contention in there remaining key games again ManUnited (March 16th), Tottenham (March 30th), ManCity (April 12th) and Chelsea (April 26th).
