Two European giants will battle it out for the greatest prize in European club football. The top 2 teams in German football will battle it out at Wembley stadium for the prestigious trophy.

Borussia Dortmund’s road to Wembley started having won Group D, a group that consisted of some of the top clubs in the competition, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Ajax. Once into the knockout phase of the competition, Dortmund overcame the challenges of Shakhtar Donetsk and Málaga before eventually meeting Real Madrid in the Semi-finals. Over the two legs of the Semi-final, Dortmund eventually finished 4-3 aggregate winners. After winning the first leg 4-1 thanks to 4 goals from Robert Lewandowski, Dortmund went on to survive a late scare in the second leg that finished 2-0. Lewandowski has been a highly influential player for Borussia in both their league and Champions League campaigns. The Polish striker scored 24 goals in Dortmund’s Bundesliga campaign as well as scoring 10 goals in this seasons Champions League.

Bayern Munich started on their way to Wembley by winning group F. From this, they then went onto beat Arsenal and Juventus before drawing Barcelona in the semi-finals. Bayern’s dominant performances over the 2 legs saw them progress into the final with an incredible 7-0 aggregate win. Having won the first leg 4-0, many were expecting a second leg fight back from Barcelona, however it was Bayern Munich who kept up their dominant form to win the second leg 3-0. Thomas Müller has been hugely influential throughout Bayern’s route to the final. He has scored 8 goals in this year’s competition including 3 over the 2 legs of the semi-final. Müller also scored 13 goals in Bayern Munich’s successful Bundesliga campaign.
